Loughborough with it's population of 58,000 residents is the largest town in Leicestershire and the River Soar passes to the east of the town.
The town is a shoppers paradise, pedestrianised and with plenty of art deco buildings, coffee shops and bars scattered around the town it has a somewhat unique feel to it. A large outdoor market is held twice a week in the Market Place and Market Street. There is a monthly farmers market too, which dates all the way back to 1221.
Famous for its University, it has an international reputation for teaching and research. Loughborough has always been associated with sporting prowess, and the Japanese Olympic team have chosen to make the town there base for the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
